Ricardo Baeza-Yates:
Graphs from Search Engine Queries
Yahoo Research Lab, Spain
In traditional information retrieval, words were the main source for relevance. In the Web, that has been combined with link evidence. Words can be considered the wisdom of the writers and links the wisdom of the writers and publishers. We argue that queries and the actions that follow are much more powerful, as they are the wisdom of all of us, as searchers. We show how queries are helpful also for ranking, helping users or generating semantic information.
