Christian Bac

began to work for "France Telecom" in 1981. He obtained his BSc in Computer Science from Bordeaux I University in 1982. He joined Computer Center of CNET Issy-les-Moulineaux (France Telecom Center of Research) in 1983, where he worked in a group that installed UNIX machines and helped people to administer these machines. He obtained his MSc in Computer Science from Paris VI University in 1984 and began to work on UNIX kernel. He then gave courses on C and UNIX at CNET and began to work on distributed systems in 1986. He joined the "Institut National des Telecommunications" (France Telecom University) in 1989, as an Assistant Professor where he teaches UNIX at various levels (user, system calls, administration, internals) and distributed computing. He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Paris XI-Orsay in 1995.

His current interests include distributed systems, operating systems, microkernel technology and distributed multimedia.
