In this talk, a number of novel trends in multimedia and networked multimedia will be presented: CD-I is at the brink of disappearing before it has ever really appeared, 3D modelling will be gradually important but VR gadgets won't, Internet will remain unusable for a number of often-mentioned applications such as real-time video for quite a few years to come, the concept of complete decentralisation pursued in Internet is starting to have serious competition in highly centralised powerful servers based on technologies such as nCUBE, and electronic publishing requires new tools such as Hyper-G and PDF.
